Alon, Nissim Ovadia
Ben Rachel and Yehia. He was born on the 20th of Tishrei 5733 (20.9.1972) in Jerusalem. He studied and was educated in the capital. He began his studies at the religious elementary school in Givat Mordechai and continued with the geography track at the Himmelfarb High School. Nissim was interested in computers and sports, and during his free time played basketball, worked in shooting, and volunteered for service in MDA and the Civil Guard, where he was traveling with his friends on a trip to Canada and the United States. After completing his infantry training, he was assigned to the Golani Brigade, completed a paratrooper course and graduated with a sniper training course, and his commanders admired him as a very good soldier. Nissim fell during the performance of his duties on January 15, 1992. During the training, the reconnaissance jeep overturned and Nissim was hit and killed. He was laid to rest at the military cemetery on Mount Herzl. Survived by his parents and two sisters – Ziva and Anat. After his death, miracles were raised. In his letter of condolence to the bereaved family, his commander wrote: “Nissim served in the Golani reconnaissance unit for 15 months and was about to complete his career as a combat soldier in the unit, a difficult and arduous course that combines both physical and mental difficulties. He served as a role model for his friends, calmly and coolly, and especially in his desire to be the best.N Nissim served in the unit as a sniper of terror, a role that attests to the person.Nissim was chosen for this role only for one reason and one of his commanders trusted him 100 percent. And Nissim was one of those. ” To commemorate his memory, his father donated donations to the Neve Yosef synagogue in Givat Mordechai.
