Almozlino, Abraham


Son of Sara and Matityahu, was born in 1930 in Izmir, Turkey. And attended elementary school. His wish was to immigrate to the Land of Israel. Indeed, in 1943 he succeeded in fulfilling his ambition and immigrating to Israel when he was 13 years old, in the framework of Youth Aliyah. His life in the country passed through a collective environment: he was in Sde-Nahum, in Ashdot Yaakov (where he served in the Association of Guards) and in Naan. At an early age, he enlisted in the Palmach, served in the “Al-Furtzim” battalion and participated in operations in the Arab region and in the Arab sector, in the Nachshon operations and in the Battle of Castel, which was his last battle. Carried out a number of counter-attacks aimed at returning this vital regime to their hands and on one night, on the night of April 7-8, their commander Abd al-Qader al-Husseini was killed. [28] On 28 April 1948, In order to conquer the place and find the body of their leader The Palmach division that belonged to the Fifth Battalion of the Harel Brigade came out as a reinforcement to Castel and its members covered the retreat of the defenders of the Castel. In the midst of the severe withdrawal, many of the reinforcements and Abraham’s brigade fell among them. He was buried in Ma’aleh Hahamisha. On the 19th of Kislev 5714 (19.11.1953) he was put to rest at the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
