Almario, Ezekiel


Son of Dora and Isaiah. Yehezkel was born in the Soviet Union on July 3, 1945. He immigrated with his parents to Israel in 1951. They settled in Netanya and Yechezkel attended the Ussishkin Israel elementary school in the city. While waiting for his enlistment, Yechezkel helped support his family. In 1963 he enlisted in the IDF and served in a combat engineering unit until 1965. On October 4, 1966, Yehezkel enlisted in the Border Police for a regular training course and was assigned to a platoon in the Sharon. “He was fit, admired by his commanders and subordinates, and did his job well and devotedly,” his friends said, adding that he had “excellent leadership skills.” Following the explosion of a house in Moshav Ometz in which a baby was killed in September 1967, extensive searches were carried out in the Tulkarm area after a terrorist squad. On the 27th of Elul 5727 (27.9.1967), a Border Police force was organized on the scale of a platoon to carry out searches on the hilltops of ‘Atil and’Alir, during which the force encountered a squad of three terrorists who opened fire. He was buried at the cemetery in Netanya, leaving behind his parents
