Almakayes-Yaakobovitch, Omri Chaim

Omri, son of Roni and Ilan Almakayes-Yaakobovitch, was born in 1986 at Assaf Harofeh Hospital in Tzrifin. In April 2005, Omri underwent a catheterization and underwent a month-long recovery period at home. But all his mother’s hopes that Omri would now leave the combat unit and move to a position close to home were proven false. At the end of the recovery period, Omri insisted on returning to fight alongside his comrades and returned to full combat service. On 3.8.2006, in the Second Lebanon War, Omri fell. He was twenty years old when he died. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Ramle. Survived by parents, two brothers and a sister. After his fall, he was promoted to First Sergeant.
