Alkobi , Shlomo


Son of Zohara and Shimon. He was born on the 16th of Tammuz, July 1, 1950, in Morocco. At the age of four, in 1954, he immigrated to Israel with his family. He studied at the Agudat Israel elementary school. After graduating, he worked in a diamond polishing factory in Safed, to help support the family. He expanded his education, in the studies of the Ministry of Labor. Shlomo was a loyal, devoted, courageous and kindhearted fellow. He was admired by his family and friends alike. He was diligent, persistent, and accepted in society. At the time of his enlistment, he fought to get into the Border Police. He enlisted in mid-February 1968, and was trained as a combat soldier in the Border Police. He acquired experience in the field of ambush. Shlomo was killed in a terrorist ambush near Kibbutz Ashdot Ya’akov, on the 3rd of Cheshvan, October 25, 1968. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Safed. He left behind his parents, five sisters and a brother.
