Alja’ar, Khalil

Khalil, Ben Habsa and Muhammad, was born on 19.9.1955 in Arad. He attended elementary school in Ramle, where he completed his studies. Since he was a member of a large family of nine brothers and sisters and lived in poverty and distress, Khalil was forced to leave for work at a relatively young age to help support the family. He was a sports fan, but was not satisfied with this and was actually active in sports and was particularly successful in the football industry. Khalil was a member of a Bedouin family known for her loyalty to the State of Israel. His father, too, had been a tracker in the Israel Police for many years, and so his son, Khalil, followed him. In 1972, Khalil married Karmela Abu-Gabaga. Khalil served in the infantry in the Southern Reconnaissance Unit and was a devoted soldier and an excellent friend, admired by his commanders and comrades in arms. When the Yom Kippur War broke out, Khalil served in the stronghold of the “Cracker”. He fought with his friends with great fervor and did not surrender until he was hit and killed on October 8, 1973. He was brought to rest in the Muslim cemetery in Ramle. Survived by his wife and eldest son, Amir, who was born after his fall, parents, brothers and sisters. After his fall, he was promoted to corporal.
