Son of Bruria and David, he was born in Kiryat Shmona on March 4, 1963. Shlomo’s parents immigrated to Israel from Morocco and settled in Kiryat Shmona, where they had seven children,. Shlomo attended elementary school in his hometown, He learned in the “Matmid” vocational school in automotive mechanics, and in this Shlomo worked before his military service. The days of Shlomo’s youth were the days of the terrorists’ infiltrations and the Katyusha attacks on Kiryat Shmona. In February 1981 he was drafted into the IDF, underwent general training and was assigned to the IDF, where he served in the Border Police. When the Peace for Galilee War broke out, Shlomo went through all the stages of the fighting as a patrol in the Border Police. On the 25th of Cheshvan 5743 (11.11.1982), a gas canister exploded in the Military Court in Tire, the building collapsed and buried its inhabitants. Among those killed was Shlomo Mordechai. He was 19 years old. He left behind his parents, three brothers and three sisters. Shlomo Mordechai was laid to rest at the military cemetery in Kiryat Shmona. His family commemorated him in the library of the synagogue in his place of residence. In addition, his memory and the memory of his friends who fell with him were commemorated at the base of the Border Guard.
