Aldrotti, Isaiah (Zeno)


Son of Tzippora and Moshe, was born on 29.6.1929 in Jerusalem). From his childhood he lived in Tulkarem, where his father served as the principal of a school for young criminals and devoted himself to saving them by teaching Torah and to work. In the outbreak of the 1936-1939 events they were forced to leave the city. After much moving around, he completed his studies at Mercaz School and continued to study for two years at the Max Payne Professional School. At that time he joined the Haganah and Maccabi. Yeshayahu was most talented in craftsmanship, wood sculpting, sculpture, various inventions in electrical appliances. He also had a musical sense and played various instruments. He aspired to enter the Technion in Haifa and be an electrical engineer. During his time at Zrifin, he studied evening classes at the Montefiore vocational school. The authorized institutions determined that Yeshayahu should serve only a partial service, but he did not agree to that and enlisted in the Golani Brigade. His friends tell of his dedication and willingness to self-sacrifice, which saved many from death. At the time of the attack, a fire broke out near a gasoline tank, and he, under a shower of gunfire, was driven to safety. Yeshayahu, who was promoted to the rank of commander-in-chief, participated as a machine gun operator in the fierce battles of the English army camp captured by the Arabs in Afula in the battles of Lagoon, Megiddo, Mishmar HaEmek, Umm al-Fahm, Zirik, Abu Shusha, Mansi, and Um-a-Zinat On the 2nd of Sivan, June 9, 1948 he fell in battle for Lubia. His body was collected after a month and transferred to a mass grave in Mishmar Ha’emek cemetery
