Alcrief, Gabriel


Son of Hasuba and Yehuda, was born in 1930 in Morocco. In 1947 he immigrated to Israel. His ship was seized by the British. He was sent to Cyprus and in late 1947 Gabriel returned to Israel as a passenger on the Andria and joined the ranks of the defenders of the Homeland. He served in the Alexandroni Brigade and participated in the battles in the South. During the “Horev” operation, a “liquidation” operation was carried out, intended to liquidate “Kees Faluja,”which was besieged by an Egyptian brigade in the area of ​​Iraq al-Manshiyya. Alexandroni Forces broke into the village from the south and took control of it, and stormed the hill to the north. Meanwhile, the Egyptians recovered and attacked our forces. Part of the force remained trapped inside the village. Gabriel fell in this battle on the 26th of Kislev 5708 (December 28, 1948). He was first buried in Faluja and later transferred to eternal rest in the military cemetery in Nahalat Yitzhak. His brother, Yaakov, fell eight months before he fell.
