Albiliya, Gabriel
Gabriel, son of Silica and Elijah z “l, was born on November 8, 1952 in the city of Casablanca in Morocco and immigrated to Israel with his family in 1964. He studied at the “Otzar Hatorah” elementary school in Morocco and in Israel. Gabi was a diligent student, and he had won honors and awards in elementary school, thanks to his outstanding achievements. He was particularly interested in literature and the Hebrew language. Gabriel was drafted into the IDF in February 1970 and volunteered for the paratroopers. And there he was among the men in his unit as an excellent parachutist. He was an example of his friends in his obedience and his passivity. In one of the operations in Lebanon he fought with honors, was wounded and acquired the name of a brave and excellent fighter. During his military service, Gabi visited the house and devoted all his holidays to the youth of his town and his mother. He wrote a lot to his family, but out of modesty did not mention his achievements in the army. During the Yom Kippur War, Gabi participated with his unit in the difficult battles against the Egyptians in the Suez Canal area. At the end of the fighting his unit was transferred to the Jebel Atka area. On December 21, 1973, he set out to rescue two soldiers from his unit and in an artillery bombardment was killed and killed. He was brought to eternal rest in the Hazor Haglilit cemetery. He was survived by a mother, two brothers and a sister. After his fall, he was promoted to First Sergeant. During an investigation in 2017, it was reported that he had received a Citation from the Chief of Staff.
