Al-Salem, Zion


Son of Emilia and Yehuda, was born on October 8, 1962 in Morocco, at the age of two he immigrated with his parents to Israel, and the family moved to Kiryat Gat, then moved to the rural center of Even Shmuel, south of Kiryat Gat. He graduated from the elementary school in Kiryat Gat, completed six grades and moved to the “Neve Etzion” junior high school in Jerusalem, where he lived in the “Himelfarb” boarding school. In February 1980 he joined the Israel Defense Forces and served in the Engineering Corps, where he underwent a number of professional courses in sabotage and combat engineering, and in December 1981 he was promoted to Cpl. And was promoted to the rank of lieutenant-colonel in October 1982. He was promoted to the rank of lieutenant.In the course of his career, Zion volunteered to serve in the regular army (12.9.1984), he was called upon to dismantle a roadside bomb discovered by SLA forces near the village of Aba, Dar Meath town of Nabatiyeh. In the explosion, Zion was killed. He was 22 when he died. He was laid to rest at the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem. He left behind his parents, three sisters and two brothers.
