Al-Hanani, Ehud
Ehud, son of Hannah and Abba Al-Hanani, was born on March 4, 1953 in Tel Aviv. He studied at Hillel Elementary School in Ramat Gan and then graduated from Blich High School in Ramat Gan. From an early age, Ehud had a kind heart and loved everyone, His teachers liked him for his pleasant temperament and used him as a model for his classmates, though he was not one of the diligent students. Before the matriculation exams, he had studied vigorously and had successfully passed them. Even as a student in elementary school, Hudy had a great talent in painting and sculpture and when he was eleven he joined the sculpture department. He often painted and sketched and used to visit exhibitions and museums. He told his friends that he wanted to study architecture at the Technion. Hudi was a member of the Scout movement and eventually served as a youth counselor at the Scouts’ camp in Ramat Gan. He maintained close ties with the Scout Movement during his service in the Israel Defense Forces, and he had various hobbies, but most of all he was interested in poetry and loved to visit theater and filmmaking. was a tall, handsome, and modest lad, dedicated to his family Even when he was a high school student, he decided to volunteer for the Golani reconnaissance units when he reached the IDF. To this end he began to develop his physical fitness and engaged in sports. He practiced at the Judo Institute and used to walk far and wide. Ehud was drafted into the IDF in early August 1971 and volunteered to the Golani reconnaissance unit. He was an excellent soldier, responsible and devoted to his job. When the Yom Kippur War broke out he fought with members of his unit on the Golan Heights. On October 8, 1973, he was killed in battle. He was brought to eternal rest in the cemetery in Kiryat Shaul. Survived by his parents and sister. After his fall, he was promoted to First Sergeant.
