Akhaoz, Shachna (salick)

Son of Victoria and Marcus, was born on July 7, 1932 in the city of Lvov, Poland, where he studied in the elementary school in his hometown and was a member of the Hashomer Hatzair movement. Sliq and his brothers wandered in the forests and orphanages until, in 1945, at the end of the war, they reached the city of Stettin, where they joined a children’s home that was organized to immigrate to Eretz Israel. With the help of the Haganah emissaries, they made their way from the city of Klokac in Poland to the city of Bremen in Germany, and from there to France, where they were trained by Hagana emissaries and from there, “The Exodus from Europe 5707” on his way to Israel. Sliq was wounded during the battles between the British and the ship’s passengers. He arrived in Israel and joined the Golani Brigade, was sent to protect the Galilee, and eventually reached Ashdot Ya’akov. On Friday, May 15, 1948, during an aerial bombardment of Ashdot Ya’akov, a shrapnel from a shrapnel was hit by a bomb and died of his wounds, and he was buried at the cemetery in Menahemia. On the 20th of Cheshvan 5710 (20.10.1958) he was put to rest at the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul.
