Akashotti, Mordechai

Mordechai, son of Rina and Avraham Akashotti, was born in 1929 in Istanbul, Turkey. From his youth he was attracted to Zionism and in 1944 his parents agreed to send him to Palestine as part of the Youth Aliya. He was educated and worked in a youth company in the Hapoel Hamizrachi group and afterwards served in the Nutrut and Palmach,. During the War of Independence, he was killed in the Battle of Hirbet Bir Sabina near Kfar Hittim, on 8 Elul, September 12, 1948. On November 3, 1948, he was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Tiberias.
