Aizik, Yehuda

Was born on November 23, 1955 in Botosan, Romania, where he immigrated to Israel with his parents and his sister, who settled in Ashdod and Yehuda attended elementary school in Achdut, Rogozin High School in the field of electricity When the Yom Kippur War broke out, he was on the eve of his enlistment in the IDF. Yehuda was very disappointed that his enlistment had not been advanced so that he could serve in the army. At the time of his enlistment, Yehuda was stationed in the Armored Corps. He was an impeccable soldier and was soon sent to a tank commanders course. In the period after the Yom Kippur War, when many of the young people sought an easy role for themselves in the army, Yehuda was willing to undertake any difficult task and carry out with full responsibility and seriousness. When he was discharged from the army, he began to work as an electrician in the port of Ashdod, and after a while he moved to work at his company’s acrylic factory. Yehuda was a devoted member and was at the center of all social activity. “We have to organize a trip – we turn to Yehuda, we need a ride at the end of the evening – Yehuda is ready, an electric appliance breaks down with a friend or neighbor – Yehuda repairs.” This is how Yehuda described one of his friends. In a conversation with his father about army service and reserve duty, he said: “If I am not a visa and someone else does not serve, we will not have a state.” This statement was very characteristic of him. In 1980 Yehuda married his girlfriend Zippora (Tzipi). There was great concern in his Lev when he left her in her ninth month of pregnancy and went to reserve duty in the Peace for Galilee War. He promised to return home to bring her to the hospital when she was about to give birth, but he did not get it. During the battles in the eastern sector, Yehuda’s unit felt compelled to rescue another unit trapped in ambush by enemy forces. On the 11th of Kislev, 5762 (11.6.1982), Judah was killed and brought to eternal rest in the military cemetery in Ashdod, leaving behind a wife and a son born after his death, parents and sister.
