Ainai, Jacob


Son of Shmuel and Rachel (Rachel). He was born in Tishrei 5711 (September 1950) in Baghdad, the capital of Iraq, and in mid-1951 the family immigrated to Israel with him in 1951. He attended elementary school in Ra’anana in the State School B. He belonged to the Hanoar Haoved movement, “He loved the IDF and his military service as a faithful son of his homeland,” as the commander of his unit said in a letter of condolence he sent to his family after the fall of their son, but he did not finish one year of his compulsory service, That he was injured and taken to the hospital where he died of his wounds, on the 24th of Tammuz 5728 (July 20, 1968), was brought to rest in the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul. A letter of Torah was placed in the name of Yaakov to the synagogue of the immigrants from Iraq in Ra’anana.
