Ahrak, Yoseph
Son of Yehudit and David, was born in 1922 in Yemen. He was 23 years old when he got to Israel, and settled in the Bukharan neighborhood of Jerusalem. Yoseph married and raised a family and supported them as construction worker. During the War of Independence he was one of the defenders of Jerusalem. Yoseph excelled in shooting, and was assigned as a sniper near Mea She’arim. While performing his duties on the 19th of Av 5708 (August 24, 1948), he was hit by an enemy bullet and killed on the spot. He was buried in Sheikh Bader A. He left a wife, Shoshana, and a baby. On the 17th of Elul 5710 (August 30, 1950) he was transferred to eternal rest in the military cemetery at Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
