Aharonovitch, Arie (‘Arik’)


Son of Israel and Nina. Born on February 16, 1959, in Moshav Nativ-Hashayara in the Western Galilee, Aryeh studied at the Regba Regional School, then attended the Remez Elementary School in Nahariya and completed his studies at the military boarding school of Air Force Technical School. Aryeh loved technical works and from a young age he was interested in flying and building airplanes. He was also a member of the Nahariya model club. Was very common in society and befriended all those around him. His friends always indicated his desire to help and contribute from his experience and knowledge to anyone who needed it. Arieh was drafted into the Israel Defense Forces in September 1976 and was assigned to the Israel Air Force in the role of an aircraft operator, and he devoted much of his energies and spare time to his work during his stay in his unit. On May 23, 1978, Arieh fell in the military cemetery in Nahariya, leaving behind his parents and three brothers, and in a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, the commander of the unit wrote: “Corporal Arieh was an outstanding soldier, with an excellent profession, a gifted and diligent man who contributed greatly to his work in order to make improvements and improvements in the unit.
