Aharon, Eliyahu


Eliyahu, son of Shoshana and Shalom, was born on December 3, 1951, in the village of Gedona, and when he was two years old, his family moved to the Kaplan neighborhood of Kfar Saba, where he studied at the Etzion elementary school and after his family moved to Shikun After completing his studies at the Bar-Ilan elementary school, he continued to study at the Moreshet religious high school, but after one year of school he moved to the ORT school and studied for three years in the electricity track. Afterward he studied in a mechanical engineering program at the Ort Technicum School in Givatayim, where he studied with great diligence and enriched his knowledge of Torah and halakhah. He was also a public emissary and a Torah scholar in the synagogue where he lived, and he loved the work, could not go idle and was always looking for something to engage in. Eliahu was an outstanding athlete and often participated in soccer competitions. He was active in the establishment and operation of the Etzion youth club, where he held entertainment evenings, trips, sports competitions and social games before he was drafted into the IDF. Eliahu was drafted into the Israel Defense Forces in mid-November 1969. He completed basic training and a course for commanders of the Nahal Brigade. He did his military service in Sinai, as a guide and commander, in the training facility of the armored forces in Sinai. He was a dedicated and disciplined soldier, carried out the tasks assigned to him, and was acceptable to his commanders and Ehud to his apprentices. Eliahu was known as one of the best instructors at the training base. In November 1972, he was discharged from regular service and was stationed, as a non-commissioned infantry officer, in the Jerusalem Brigade. As soon as he completed his army service, he began working at the Packer Steel plant as a locksmith. He and his father bought a house together in Kfar Sava and Eliahu devoted his spare time to renovating the house and preparing himself for a place to live. On the eve of Rosh Hashanah 5734 he was called up for reserve duty and served as a symbol of a stronghold on the banks of the Suez Canal, and on the day of the outbreak of the Yom Kippur War, And his burial place is unknown. Memorial plaques were erected in the area of ​​the fallen, whose burial place is unknown, on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem and in the cemetery in Kfar Saba. Survived by his parents, five brothers and two sisters. After his fall, he was promoted to First Sergeant. Three and a half years later, on June 6, 1977, his body was identified and he was brought to eternal rest in the military section of Kfar Sava. His parents donated a Torah scroll and a prayer pillar to the synagogue where he prayed, in their neighborhood of Kfar Saba.
