Agami, Noam


Noam, son of Rachel and Yitzhak, was born on the 11th of Tishrei 5708 (11.10.1947) in Kibbutz Givat Haim-Meuhad and his elementary and high school education was acquired in the kibbutz schools. He was a lively and lively boy, who often wandered around the country. He belonged to the Hakibbutz Hameuhad Brigade and was a member of the local Hapoel association and was one of the basketball and soccer teams. Noam was naturally inquisitive. He was an avid reader and devoted much of his time to books. Noam enlisted in the IDF in mid-August 1966 and volunteered for one of the tank patrols, and during the Six-Day War, Noam reached the Suez Canal. After completing his commanding course, Noam successfully completed a course in Armored Corps reconnaissance, a course for infantry officers and a course for reconnaissance officers, after serving for a period as commander of a jeep division. After his discharge, he returned to the kibbutz and went to work in the dairy industry, was a labor organizer and moved to the cotton industry, and was active in the kibbutz’s drama department. For internal reasons in the kibbutz, and he did so with grace and skill, and was interwoven with friends and loved by everyone. In the Yom Kippur War, Noam fought at the head of his division in the battles in the Sinai, and on December 5, 1973, Lieutenant Noam fell in the course of his duties around the Great Bitter Lake in Sinai. He was laid to rest in the cemetery in his kibbutz. In a letter of condolences to the family, his commander wrote: “Your son, the late Lieutenant Noam, served under my command as a reconnaissance commander and was a courageous fighter and an excellent commander.”
