Aflalo, David
Son of Hanania and Flora. He was born on May 4, 1956 in Tirat Hacarmel near Haifa. David studied at the Rambam Elementary School, and he and his parents decided that it would be better for him to study at a vocational school, and David was accepted to the Sprinzak High School for the mechanics of mechanics -vehicle. After completing his studies he worked – until his recruitment – at the Volkswagen in Haifa. He was also admitted to a pre-military course for driving. David was drafted into the Israel Defense Forces in early August 1974 and assigned to the Artillery Corps, where he underwent various courses in the IDF, including truck drivers, half-tracks, and finally a heavy truck driver. In this capacity he was assigned to an operational unit. David served most of his service near the northern border and was given the ‘Operational Service Award’. He was an excellent soldier and loved by his friends, and his commanders greatly admired him. David fulfilled every task in the best and most efficient way. On the day of Independence, 5736 (1976), he was chosen as an outstanding soldier in the Artillery Corps and received by the commander of the Artillery Corps On 24 April 1977, shortly before his 21st birthday, David fell while carrying out his duties near Har Dov . He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Haifa. Survived by his parents, brothers and sisters. After his fall he was promoted to sergeant. In a letter of condolence to the family, his commander stated that “during his service in the unit David excelled both as a soldier and as a friend … David was a model and an example to his friends. He excelled in the peace of mind which gave a pleasant atmosphere to his friends and surroundings. David was not deterred by hard work, there was never a complaint from him, and every task he was assigned was carried out in full and exemplary manner. “
