Adler, Joseph


He was born on August 17, 1929, in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, to a God-fearing family.Joseph studied four first grades at a Jewish elementary school in his hometown, Who continued to study at the Horev school in Jerusalem. He successfully completed his matriculation exams, studied for one year at the Kol Torah Yeshiva in Jerusalem, and then attended a seminar for religious counselors of Youth Aliyah. He served as a counselor in the Ezra religious youth movement. After graduating from school he joined the Hagana. When the War of Independence broke out, he enlisted in part and served in the Jerusalem Brigade and in his free time continued to study with his friends. During the first truce, he took a scouts course at Motza. On July 25, 1948, he participated in the loading of explosives on a truck in a Miss Kerry outpost near Beit-Gan. The material exploded for an unknown reason and he was seriously injured. He was transferred to Hadassah Hospital and died on the same day. Joseph was brought for burial in the Sanhedria cemetery in Jerusalem.
