Adler, Eliahu

Eliahu, son of Nechama and Aharon Adler, was born on October 15, 1930 in Jerusalem. When he was 11 years old, he completed his studies at the Yavneh Talmud Torah and was admitted to the Tiferet Zvi Yeshiva and studied for two years. He was admitted to the Mizrachi Teachers’ Seminary in Jerusalem and graduated with honors. Eliahu enlisted for a year of service in the Jewish Settlements Police and served in Afikim, Massada and Mishmar in Hanita. He served as a patrolman in the Carmeli Brigade area and was involved in escorting convoys in the Western Galilee. On the 10th of Shevat (21.1.1948), the Notrim armored vehicle checked the road to Yehiam. At that time, the kibbutz was attacked by large Arab forces, which even blocked the way to it. The armored vehicle broke through two roadblocks, but near the third it stopped and took heavy fire. The guards fought for several hours against stronger forces. In this battle, he was wounded, brought to a hospital in Haifa and died of his wounds that day. He was put to rest in the military cemetery in Haifa. He was 17 years old.
