Adika, Moshe

Moshe, son of Hanna and Ovadia Adika, was born in 1923 in the city of Zaru, Iraq. In 1934, when he was 11 years old, he immigrated to Israel illegally. He was arrested by the British Mandate authorities but was soon released from prison because of his young age. Moshe immediately immigrated to Jerusalem, where he joined the Hanoar Haoved Workers’ Union and participated in Haganah activities. With the division of the country into two states in 1947, he was drafted into service. He served in the Jerusalem Brigade and fought in the battles in the city. Moshe fell in a battle on the 16th of Iyar (25.5.1948) and was laid to rest in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem. He left behind his wife and their daughter.
