Abutbul, Zevulun


Zevulun, son of Rachel and my son, was born on March 25, 1954 in Rishon Letzion. He completed his studies at the Vitkin Elementary School in Ramat Eliyahu and then completed two years of study at the ORT Gindi High School in Rishon Letzion, where he acquired the framework profession. After these two years he was forced to stop his studies due to the closure of the school. During his studies he was a good student and disciplined. son of Masor became his parents, and after leaving school he went to work to help his family support her. Zevulun was a sports fan, and during his spare time he liked to exercise and a lot of bodybuilding exercises. He also liked to play guitar and sing Israeli songs. Zevulun was drafted into the Israel Defense Forces in mid-February 1973. After completing basic training, and after several months in various positions, he was transferred to the Israel Air Force. Zevulun was a good soldier, devoted and disciplined, and tried to do his best. He was a devoted friend and loved by his friends and willing to help others. During his military service he tried not to worry his family, so he made sure to phone home and did not tell much about his difficulties. On the first day of the Yom Kippur War, Zevulun’s unit left for the Gidi crossing. In an attack by Egyptian Air Force aircraft in the area, Zvulun’s vehicle was hit by a rocket. He was seriously injured and on the way to the hospital died of his wounds. He is 19 years old. Zevulun was laid to rest in the cemetery in Rishon Letzion. Survived by his parents, two sisters and two brothers. After being shot down, he was given the rank of corporal. In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, his commander wrote: “Although Zevulun was stationed in my unit for a very short time, I noticed that he was a good soldier, dedicated and loved by his friends.”
