Abutbul, Haim

Son of Shlomo and Simchah. Born in Jaffa in 1926, he studied at the Alliance School, worked as a magistrate in the Tel Aviv Magistrate’s Court, assisted in the survival of his parents, joined the Irgun during the War of Independence and participated in the conquest of Jaffa and Ramle. On the Friday night of Pesach, during one of the major attacks, he was called to action and he got up from the parents’ table (his mother was sick then) and said goodbye to his home. Four days later, he again participated in the battles for the liberation of Jerusalem. He fell in the line of duty on 9 July 1949 and was brought to eternal rest in the military cemetery at Nahalat Yitzhak.
