Abu-Yihya, Husam
Son of Safiya and Jum’a, was born on October 28, 1976 in Atir, east of the Bedouin village of Hura in the northern Negev. Lived in a shack with his parents, brothers and sisters. When he reached the age of six, the family moved to Rahat. Husam attended the al-Hawzil school in Rahat until ninth grade, and then began working at odd jobs to help support the family. At the same time, he assisted in the treatment of the sheep herd of the family who made a living by raising sheep and goats. Hossam was a smart, active and energetic guy, loved and loved by his friends. He married in 2000 with the choice of his heart Ziana, and the young couple lived close to the groom’s parents. Husam’s brother, Bahjat Abu Yahya, fell during his service in 2001. On November 14, 2002, a year after the fall of his brother, when Husam 26, he volunteered and joined the IDF. He studied driving on behalf of the army and was placed at his request as a truck driver in the Maintenance and Logistics Corps, in the Transport Battalion 6930 in Mishmar Hanegev. Hossam was a disciplined and disciplined soldier and was respected by his commanders. During his brief vacations from the army, he continued to show responsibility and commitment and to assist in the herding and maintenance of the family herd – as he had done since his youth. On 1 May 2004, Husam was on leave from the army. In the evening of that day, he rode in his car with a friend from Be’er Sheva to Rahat. When he reached a sharp turn on the Beit Kama-Rahat road, Husam lost control of the vehicle, overturned and was killed on the spot. Corporal Hussam Abu Yahya was 28 years old when he died. He was brought to rest in the cemetery in Rahat. Survived by his wife, parents and 23 brothers and sisters. In his death he left a large space in his extensive family.
