Son of Gamla and Yahid was born in 1939 to the Abu Rakayq tribe, which is located near the Be’er Sheva-Dimona road. Following his two brothers who served in IDF search units, Naif enlisted in the IDF as a tracker in the career army. When he enlisted, he was assigned the rank of sergeant. His commanders noted him as “a dedicated soldier, quiet, kind to everything.” On October 28, 1979, as he was making his way from his unit to his home in the Negev, he felt ill and was rushed to the hospital. He was diagnosed with a severe Lev attack and was hospitalized for two and a half months in hospitals. On January 16, 1980, he died in his illness. He was 41 when he died. He was laid to rest in the cemetery of his tribe in Ar’ar. He left behind two women, eight children, parents, brothers and sisters. The commander of his unit wrote in a letter of condolence to his family: “Sergeant Naif Abu-Solov served in my unit as a tracker and did a faithful job in this position”
