Abu Khalil, Ahmed

Son of Juhara and Naif. Ahmed was born in the Druze village of Julis on 1.7.1930. On April 25, 1956, at the age of twenty-six and already the father of three children, Ahmed volunteered for permanent service in the Border Police. Despite his age, he underwent a training course for a combat soldier and later a squad commanders’ course. On September 30, 1962, while he was commander of a reconnaissance team traveling along the Jordanian border near Baka al-Garbiyeh, Ahmed was killed on the spot. Ahmed was thirty-two years old when he died and was laid to rest in a family plot in the village of Julis.
