Abu Hamda, Nadim
Son of Shukriya and Salim. He was born on December 7, 1986 in Yarka. Brother to Linda, Shaim, Shukri, Osama and Marwa. Nadim attended elementary school B in his village, went on to the Druze Comprehensive High School in Yarka and completed his studies at the Achva high school in his village. As a child he liked to play and travel with his friends, and to spend time with his family. In his youth he was active in the Hanoar Haoved Vehalomed movement and the Druze Scouts. He loved sports and movement, played football and practiced bodybuilding at the gym in Yarka. He was a smiling, cheerful, diligent, spontaneous, thoughtful and sympathetic person. Nadim was known for his strong character and for his calm and peaceful man who loves to help others. He was interested in sports cars, and even cultivated his car when he added accessories for sports cars. His other hobby was: repairing electrical appliances and electronic systems under his skilled hands. Nadim was connected to his family and his wife Salwa, who grew up in a warm home and was educated on the Druze tradition. He joined the infantry corps on 8 February 2005, completed basic training, and served in the Druze battalion. After basic training, the unit moved to the Shomera Brigade in the north, where he served until his death. Nadim served in the IDF for about a year as a soldier and as an outstanding soldier, as he was in civilian life, as was his uniform, and was willing to help anyone who asked for help. The Druze “sword” and Nadim’s commander, Captain Amir, “every mission he was assigned was carried out quietly and modestly.” Corporal Nadim Abu Hamda fell during his service on Saturday, March 4, 2006, when he was seriously injured in a car accident and died of his injuries. He was buried in the cemetery in the village of Yirka with a large military ceremony, followed by a wife, parents, two sisters and three brothers.
