Abraham, Jacob

Son of Kedma and Shmuel, was born in 1929 in Aden. Immigrated to Israel in 1943. He served in the Carmeli Brigade and participated in the attack on Jenin on the night of June 2-3, 1948. The forces failed to occupy all the planned targets. On the morning of June 3, the Iraqis launched a counter-attack with the help of artillery. In light of the enemy’s superiority, our forces were forced to retreat. In this retreat Abraham fell on the 3rd of Iyar 5708 (June 3, 1948). On 20 Av 5710 (3.8.1950) he was buried in a mass grave in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl.
