Abraham, Abraham (Avi)


Son of Miriam and Daniel. He was born in Iraq in 1950 and immigrated to Israel with his family in 1951. After three years of wandering in the various transit camps, the family moved to Moshav Beit Yosef in the Beit She’an Valley, where he studied in the Yardena and Beit Yosef elementary schools. , And in 1964 he moved to Jerusalem to work as an apprentice in the Ministry of Agriculture in order to help support the family.In November 1967, Avraham was drafted into the IDF and assigned to the Golani Brigade. According to his commander in the battalion, Avraham was a quiet and disciplined soldier, and at the beginning of 1971 he was discharged from regular service in the IDF and was assigned to a reserve unit in the Armored Corps. In 1983 he married Drora, and in May 1984 his son Dan was born. In July 1985, Avraham was called up for active reserve duty and went to operational employment in divided Rafah. His commander pointed out that Avraham had served in the unit loyally and fulfilled his role impeccably. On the 28th of Av 5745 (28.7.1985), Avraham fell in the military cemetery at Mount Herzl in Jerusalem, leaving behind a wife – Drora, Son of – Dan, mother – Miriam, four brothers – Eliyahu, Shahar, Yehuda and Rafi, and three sisters – Ziva, Lily and Ilana
