Abeli, Chaim


Son of Menachem and Calma. He was born on March 7, 1948 in Cairo, Egypt. The family immigrated to Israel in 1957. He completed his elementary studies at the Weizmann School in Holon and then attended the Kugel High School there. At the time of graduation, Mrs. Kugel received the Kugel Prize and was awarded a prize by the mayor. Most of his interest was in mathematics, and when he reached the age of service, he was drafted into the IDF in August 1966, but he did not serve for ten months, and the Six-Day War broke out in this war. He gave his faithful service as a rifleman and in a battle held at the entrance to Khan Yunis in the Gaza Strip, (June 6, 1967), was the first day of the battles, fell in a sniper’s wound, was buried in the military cemetery in Bari and later moved to the eternal rest of the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul.
