Abed, Suleiman


Ben Turkman and Naaman. Was born on February 10, 1967 in the Druze village of Yirka, to an old family whose sons served in the security forces. Suleiman, the fifth of eight brothers and sisters, grew up in Yarka. He began his studies at the elementary school in the village, went on to junior high school and successfully completed his high school studies at the Druze school in Yarka, in the biological track. Suleiman was known as a smiling and pleasant man who liked both young and old. He was very active and had high ambitions. In every field in which he worked, he discovered thoroughness and perseverance. At the beginning of August 1985, Suleiman enlisted in the IDF and volunteered to serve in a combat unit. During the ten years he served in the army, he underwent many different training courses and completed high grades with the following courses: a course for squadrons, a course for paramedics, a course for drone operators, an APC course, a parachuting course, a course for infantry officers and a company commander course. All along, Suleiman demonstrated motivation, initiative and reliability, and proved a high level of performance. His commanders’ opinions were warm and impressive, and they watched Saliman spend many more years climbing the ranks. At the beginning of August 1988 Suleiman began serving in the regular army. Thanks to his ability to establish good relations, he was posted as an officer in the Liaison Unit to Lebanon. In this capacity he served as a mentor in the South Lebanon Army. Sulaiman excelled in carrying out his duties and was admired by the SLA officers and commanders, with whom he served for a long period of time, saying that he was a good, modest officer who was disciplined and disciplined, knew what was going on in his unit and promoted many issues. He served as commander of the training base for the SLA in Majidia. The commander of the Liaison Unit for Lebanon recommended that he be promoted, because he was an outstanding officer. Simultaneously with his military service, Suleiman also built his personal life and in the fall of 1986 he came in contact with “Naqa’im”, his fiancee. Over the years, their two children – Eyal and Eyal – were born. Suleiman planned to go to university, but his dreams were cut off during the Eid al-Adha holiday, the Muslim festival of sacrifice. On May 10, 1995, Suleiman fell while serving. He was twenty-eight years old when he fell. He was brought to eternal rest in his village, Yirka. He left a wife, two children, parents, four brothers – Ahad, Adel, Ziad and Fuad, and three sisters – Kamla, Nuhil and Naama. After his death he was promoted to the rank of Major. In his letter of condolences to the bereaved family, Brigadier General Giora Inbar, commander of the Liaison Unit in Lebanon, wrote: “Your son was an admired figure of his officers and subordinates in the main training base of the South Lebanon Army, and during his service he established a unique relationship with officers and commanders of the South Lebanon Army “Suleiman was a smiling man with a special sense of humor, professional and resourceful … He has many other positions in the military establishment.”
