Abd al-Ghanni, Faiz
Son of Nida and Abed Alghani Mahmoud. He was born on November 19, 1964 in Moshav Ya’ara in the Western Galilee. After seven daughters, Faiz, the son they had expected, was born. He was a spoiled child. He studied and was educated at the Arab elementary school in Aramsha and then studied automotive mechanics, a profession he worked for five years. Faiz was involved in sports, especially in Karate, and reached a brown belt. He found great interest in public work and volunteered for the police. He traveled a lot, and enjoyed helping his friends, all with a constant smile on his face. Fayez volunteered for the IDF in February 1985 and served as a scout, married his wife and had a son, Osama, and was highly motivated and went on to operational activities that proved his good professional ability, credibility and integrity. He had close and good relations with his friends and neighbors, and he respected every person as a human being On 5 November 1985, Faiz fell during his service and was buried in the family cemetery in Moshav Yaara, leaving behind a wife, son, parents, seven Nurses – Nora, Ruhia, Lila, Amira, Samira, Rukia and Faiza, and two brothers – Ali and Joseph. The bereaved family, the unit commander wrote: “Faiz’s death stunned his comrades, the officers, and all those who knew him. Fayez volunteered to serve in the Israel Defense Forces and did his job with no hesitation. The brigade salutes the memory of your son “
