Abadi, Aharon
Son of Zakia and Jacob, was born in 1925 in Syria. Aharon was a year old when he made aliyah with his family to Israel. As a boy, he helped his parents in caring for the four younger children because his father was sick. He worked in carpentry and supported his parents and in the evenings he continued to study. In the winter of 1948, he was on guard at the border of the Hatikva neighborhood, and later joined the ranks of the defenders of Gezer, which was located near the Ramle-Latrun road. The Legion forces in the area saw it as a threat and sought to conquer it. Towards noon, the Legion Company attacked the kibbutz. The heavy enemy fire destroyed the defensive positions and paralyzed any possibility of organized resistance. In this battle Aharon fell. He was brought to eternal rest on 3rd of Sivan 5708 (June 10, 1948) in the cemetery in Gezer.
