Aaron, Yedidya
Son of Pnina and Rafael. Born in Istanbul, Turkey, on April 19, 1962, his family immigrated to Israel and lived in the Old City of Jerusalem, near the Damascus Gate, where his parents moved to Tel Aviv. Aharon attended Bialik elementary school and high school in the city. He was a gifted child and a diligent student, wrote poems, often painted and played mandolin. He joined the Scout movement and devoted much of his time to sports. He was a sturdy, solid boy, known for his courage. In 1940 he completed a course for sports instructors, was active in Dizengoff Scouts and was a counselor at Hapoel Tel Aviv. He also taught on behalf of the Palmach as part of “Extended Physical Education” (HGM) at the Herzliya Gymnasium in Tel Aviv. He joined the Palmach Brigade at the age of 15 and immediately rose to the ranks due to his many talents, and he participated in many activities, including the blowing up of trains and the attack on the radar station. In Sarona on the 22nd of Adar I, February 22, 1946, Yedidya fell with three other fighters, who was twenty-three years old and laid to rest in the Nahalat Yitzhak cemetery, where he placed three parents. Aharon and his three friends who fell in action in Sarona was also called a street in the Kirya in Tel Aviv where they fell, is “Fourth Street.”
