Aaron, Josephus (Mattes)


Son of Chaya-Malka and Chaim-Baruch, was born on the 7 th of November 1923 in Klausenburg, Hungary. When he was six months old, he immigrated to Israel with his parents. The family lived briefly in Kfar Gideon and then moved to Petah Tikva. As a son of pious parents, raised and educated to Torah. When he was 13, he was circumcised by his mother. After completing his studies at the school, he went to work in engineering plants in Haifa Bay and acquired the profession of regrets. In the evening he continued his studies. In 1939 he joined the Haganah. During the Second World War he enlisted in the Jewish Brigade and while in Europe he was involved in transporting illegal immigrants to the coastal cities. Upon his discharge from the British army, he continued to work in the Haganah and participated in bold missions in the north, including the capture of Anglo-Arab documents. In the middle of May 1948, Yosef Matityahu joined the army.
