And once again a war broke out – the Six-Day War – and Kalman was still in active service. He worked hard until late at night. But it was enough: he was an exemplary father, a devoted husband and son, a good man to socialize, and he also found time for school activities, where his two daughters studied. After the Six-Day War he decided to rest a little and devote his time to studies – to complete his university education. But it was not enough. On December 30, 1969, Lieutenant Colonel Kalman was killed while carrying out his duties. Lay mother, wife and two daughters. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul. A senior IDF commander wrote, among other things, a letter of condolence to his wife: “Kalman served in my unit and fulfilled his duties with great devotion and without hesitation. In his field of activity, he worked constantly to ensure the needs of the IDF in general and the needs of the individual soldier in particular, and his untimely demise is a loss without consideration, not only to you and your family but to the IDF in general and to the individual in particular. He will be comforted by continuing his dedicated work and by glorifying the IDF’s strength. ” A year later, a donation to the family, a music corner in his memory at the Neve Oz school in Petah Tikva (a school for his daughters), a coffin and records with a copper plaque engraved with “The Song of His Life in the Middle of Its End” were set. In the morning roll call, in which the music corner was dedicated, the story of the life and death of Kalman Zohar was recounted: “The path of a warrior, who went through the perils of terror, fought in four wars, predicted victories and contributed to his strength.”
