Yosef, Miri
The youngest daughter of Galina and Michael. Born on 26.8.1985 in Be’er Sheva, a sister to Emanuel, Raphael, Galit and David, her parents were so happy that they celebrated her arrival at a party with many participants, and Miri was amazing in her beauty. They stopped at her calf and watched her, not believing that she was a real girl, while Miri was physically active during her studies at the Shazar elementary school in Be’er Sheva. She ran well, and even won a prize for her performance in a running competition. She also studied karate, participated in competitions, and was active in dance and jazz circles. When she reached high school, Miri chose to study at the external school “Lachman” and completed her studies successfully. Miri was attracted to beauty and aesthetics, and it was natural because of her beauty. She decided to take advantage of her natural data and try her luck as a track model. Therefore, she turned to the representative of Africa, the “mother” of the models in the south, took a course and began to pose. She participated in the “Miss Beer Sheva and the Negev” competition, modeled in Israel and Turkey, and won first place in a belly dance competition. “Her dream was to be famous all over the world,” her mother said. But Miri was not satisfied. She studied bridal makeup, and as a professional makeup artist she made beauty contests in Israel and Turkey. Miri was characterized by joy of life. She loved to dance and sing, and she used life as much as she could. Wherever she went, she spread light and gave warmth to those around her. During her lifetime, she helped quite a few girls in distress, used to give them her clothes and cosmetics, and shared her knowledge of modeling with early models. Miri’s family had a difficult time. Miri lost her father when she was five, and for her, her older brother Emanuel was a pain. She was very attached to him, helped him and consulted him in everything. On August 31, 2004, Emanuel was killed in the terrorist attack in Beersheba, in which sixteen people were murdered. Miri did not know her soul in grief, but gathered her strength and continued her life. In order to encourage her mother, she used to quote her the sentence that Emmanuel would say – “With the dead do not die. After her eighteenth birthday, Miri decided to make a change. She grew up at once, an edge in the life of glamor, and wanted to live the “real life.” As the enlistment approached, she spoke of her desire to enlist in the Israel Police and thereby make her contribution to the state. On February 6, 2005, Miri enlisted in the Israel Defense Forces and went to the SHAMAM (compulsory police service) track. After a previous course she was assigned to the Arad police station. She was pleased with her service, well versed in the unit, and liked her commanders and co-workers. On the 11th of Tishrei 5766 (October 11, 2005), Miri was shot while she was at the age of 20. She was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Be’er Sheva, leaving a mother, two brothers and a sister.
