Yefet (Yechiya), Chaim
He was born on the ninth of Adar 5721 (26.2.1950) in Ramat Gan. Chaim was drafted into the IDF in mid-November 1967 and assigned to the Engineering Corps. Some months after the birth of his daughter, the Yom Kippur War broke out and Chaim was called up for reserve duty. He was sent to the southern front and participated in the braking battles against the Egyptians in the “Clutch” area, opposite the Suez Canal. On October 17, 1973, his barge received a direct hit and he and two other soldiers were rushed to a hospital, covered with mortal burns. That night he died of his wounds. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul. Survived by a wife and daughter, parents, brother and sister. After his fall, he was promoted to corporal.
