Yamata, Gazacho


Gazacho, son of Almito and Tekla Yamata was born on January 1, 1985 in Ethiopia. In 2010 he immigrated to Israel, directly to an absorption center in Be’er Sheva, where he studied Hebrew at a Jewish Ulpan, and on March 30, 2014, he enlisted at the age of twenty-nine. He served in a rear unit, and thanks to his high motivation to serve in a combat unit, his request to move to the Golani brigade was accepted.
After serving for a year and four months, he fought as a combat soldier in the 51st Battalion of the Golani Brigade. Sergeant Gazacho Yamata fell during his service on the 18th of Av 5755 (3.8.2015). He was thirty years old when he fell. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Kiryat Gat.
