Winter, Zalman


Son of-Rachel and Moshe, was born on October 22, 1928 in Tel Aviv, where he graduated from the “Yesod HaMaala” elementary school and spent two years studying at the Nordia Gymnasium. He continued to study at the Max Payne vocational school, and during the days he worked and at night he studied as a member of the Gordonia youth movement and a counselor in the Gordonia youth movement. He joined the Haganah and joined the Haganah since then, and since then he has been carrying love and faith in the burden of all her commandments and duties. He worked in the various branches of the agriculture, in the building, and especially in his profession – the frameworks – that he loved and aspired to specialize in. In his many letters to his parents, he told his parents On the 15th of Tevet 5708 (15.12.1947), he traveled in a cart on the way between Ma’ayan Baruch and Kfar Giladi, on his way to a vocational training course, and was suddenly attacked by a young man. A gang that harbored him. His friends, who rushed to his aid, found him dead, with his body covering and protecting a child who led to the school. The boy was saved. The trail of his killers led to the Arab village of Hassas and in a punitive action carried out by the Haganah, two buildings were blown up and 10 people were killed. Zalman was laid to rest in the military cemetery at Nahalat Yitzhak. His memory was placed on the pages of the book “On Death”, which was published by his kibbutz in memory of the fallen of the spring of Maayan Baruch.
