Winograd, Avraham


Avraham, son of Sarah and Ze’ev Winograd, was born on April 11, 1929 in the city of Zalin, Poland, arrived in Israel in 1935 and graduated from high school. He was the only supporter of his parents, who lived in Jerusalem. During the War of Independence he worked first in the arms industry (making bombs for airplanes). He was then taken to the Jerusalem front where he fell during an attack in Sheikh Jarrah on the 13th of Iyar 5708 (May 21, 1948). He was buried in Sheik-Bader Aleph. On the 28th of Elul 5710 (10.9.1950) he was put to rest in the cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
