Weissmark, Yehuda

Yehuda, son of Bluma and Moshe Weissmark, was born in 1925 in Haifa. In the winter of 1948, he spent the nights repairing weaponry, preparing ammunition, standing guard in his neighborhood, and carrying out bold operations, right under the noses of the British policemen. In early spring, when the neighborhood was required to give 25 people and a commander to the army, Yehuda volunteered himself in the place of someone else who was afraid to go. That is how he ended up serving from then on in one of the battalions in the Carmeli Brigade. He participated in many dangerous and important operations. On the 3rd of Tamuz (10.7.1948), Yehuda was hit and killed by Syrian fire while trying to rescue save others from an attack. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Rosh Pina.
