Weintraub, Moshe


Moshe (Moishe, Winnie), Ben Esther and Eliezer, a Holocaust survivor, was born on June 21, 1951, in Moshav Udim. Moshe was drafted into the IDF in early August 1970 and assigned to the Armored Corps, and after completing basic training, he was trained in the “Centurion” tank course, where he served as a good soldier, responsible and devoted to his role. As a commander, he took care of his soldiers and was accepted and loved by them.In the course of his service he tried not to worry his parents and often wrote letters home to calm them and prevent them from grief and apprehension.In the Yom Kippur War, his unit was sent to the front in Sinai, On October 9, 1973, in the southern section of the “Mitzvah” route, Moshe’s tank was hit He was killed on the spot, and was later declared a missing person and was later buried in the cemetery in Netanya, leaving behind a father, mother and two brothers. The bereaved family wrote to his bereaved family: “Moshe was a model soldier and an exemplary tank commander. He was an example of his soldiers and a friend of all his acquaintances.” His parents erected a memorial plaque in Moshav Udim in his memory.
