Weiner, Shmuel


Son of Yosef. He was born on March 31, 1880 in Rostock, Bukovina. In 1934 he immigrated to Israel from Germany and settled with his family in Jerusalem. He joined the ranks of the Haganah and worked for a living as chief agent of the Alliance insurance company in Jerusalem. During the riots of March 26, 1938, he traveled with Gabriel Chelouche in a car from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. The car was attacked near Sarafand. Shmuel was seriously injured and taken to Hadassah Hospital in Tel Aviv. He died on 5 Elul (1.9.1938) and was buried in the Nahalat Yitzhak cemetery in the along with his friend Gavriel, who died with him. He left a wife and two daughters.
