Weiner, Daniel
Daniel, son of Sonia and Simon Wiener, was born on 25.11.1947 in Montevideo, Uruguay, and immigrated to Israel in 1970. Daniel was drafted into the Israel Defense Forces in mid-May 1970. After completing basic training, he was sent to a mortar course and assigned to a mortar unit, where he served until his release. Daniel was a devoted and disciplined soldier and an excellent friend On October 14, 1973, Daniel fought with his unit in the Gidi axis in Sinai, in the role of a 160mm mortar platoon. As he was shooting, the armored vehicle on which he was standing exploded, and he was killed. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl. He left behind a wife and two children, a brother and parents (in Uruguay). After his fall, he was promoted to corporal.
