Weinbaum, Yaakov (Hans)


Son of Dr. Asher and Keita, Yaakov was born on February 3, 1920, in Berlin, Germany. In 1939, when he arrived in Israel, he continued his studies at the Hebrew Technion in Haifa until 1941. His parents remained in Berlin but his father died in 1941 and his mother was deported to Theresienstadt and the following year she died there. He was active in the Hagana, participated in the War of Independence and recently served in the Engineering Corps. In 1950 he joined the permanent army, where he served as an officer, and reached the rank of captain in 1951. On the 28th of Nissan (4.5.1951) he died of the disease and was put to rest at the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul.
