Vadhel, Moshe (Ernest)


He was born on January 27, 1925, in Vienna, Austria, where he became a member of the Hanoar Hazioni General movement and was educated in Eretz Yisrael. Upon completion of his training institution joined the infantry Palestine was then the Jewish Brigade (Hahayil). In his unit he stood out as a devoted soldier during the short period of the Brigade’s battles on the Italian front, excelling in the action of capturing German prisoners. This was stated in the order of the brigade headquarters on March 19, 1945. On 28 Nisan, April 6, 1945, he stayed with his friends in a front position on the banks of the Sanyo River in Italy. The Germans shelled the area and the post burned, and Moshe and his four comrades were killed in the fire. He was buried in a mass grave in Ravenna.
